Bloody Dogs!!! Empty Bloody Dogs!!!

I HATE people who let their dogs wander...and at the moment Im one of them. Crying or Very sad

The pup has escaped about three times this week and this morning, pup pushed the mesh off of the fence and the rotty got out as well. A lady around the corner rang OH and told him they were out, I ran around there and got there just as they got into some old guys chook. The chook only flapped and squalked and as I yelled at them, they came out with their tails between their legs. Thank god I got there before they harmed the guys chook!

Im at my wits end. I love my dogs, they are gorgeous in every other way, but the pup is going through a escapee stage and its driving me nuts. The rotty went through the same stage and grew out of it. Im going to have to chain them up at night I think. I really dont want to, but what other choice do I have??? We had a staffy x pound pup that I ended up having put down because we couldnt keep her in, she was getting out twice a day in a different place everyime and she DID get into someones chooks and that was the last straw! We have replaced 2 fences and where he keeps getting out is the weak bit, but we have no more tin to put there at the moment.

Just a sad and sorry vent from me this morning. Crying or Very sad

Got an electric fence unit? A battery powered one?? Put up some tape around the bottom of your fences - about 6 inches off the ground........... that will hinder their escape!!!

Its frustrating........... Frog wanders if he gets the chance - so we have him in a nice big run that has roof and sides - all chain link and the roof is tin with thatching under the tin so its cool in summer Smile Plus he has his 'boxes' in there to climb in and out of! Smile

Craigs the local dog catcher, so we are SUPER careful about where he is at all times....... not a good look if the dog catchers dog goes for walkies! lol........

When we are outside he comes and runs around like a loon (usually his first stop is the water trough which he dives into, then the stinkiest sloppiest horse poo he can find or pee patch and makes sure he gets all stinky and whatnot, then comes and gives me a cuddle.............)

Oh dear Eeyore....

Once they get a taste of blood and the trill of the chase, can go anywhere from there unfortunately. Lucky for the chook you were there.

I was going to suggest a chain link run too....capital idea for wandering dogs (one with a roof that is because I've seen escapees climb up the side of a chain link fence and over the top.

At least you're being responsible thinking about what to do.

perhaps chain them for now....better than getting a call from a neighbour saying "your dog killed my ......., so I shot him"

Hi Eeyore, I recognise the photo of you on your coloured horse. We have escapee dogs too. Such a nuisance and unfortunately ours did kill a chook one day so we have built new high fences. One of them can still jump over so he sadly spends his time tied on a very long rope - he is the biggest nuisance but belongs to my daughter. Cheers.

Fort knox now has hightened security and have has 0 escapees since the last episode.

If they get out again, I'll have to build a run but OH doesnt want to. They will be on a running chain before that (long wire with chain so they can run up and down the length of the wire without having heaps of chain)

Hopefully we have them now. I cant wait until the proper new fence goes up around the whole block so they will have twice as much room and no way of escaping!
